چکیده

In recent years, off-road tourism has become one of the most popular nature-based activities in the forests of Gilan. The region’s forest trails, pristine landscapes, and the thrill of driving on rough terrains have attracted numerous adventure-seeking tourists. However, the unregulated expansion of this type of tourism has led to significant environmental and social challenges. This study aims to examine the environmental and social impacts of off-road tourism in the forests of Gilan and proposes strategies for sustainable management. The research employs a descriptive-analytical approach, collecting data through field studies, interviews with local communities, and analysis of environmental reports. Findings indicate that off-road activities have caused soil erosion, vegetation destruction, noise pollution, and a decline in wildlife populations in these forests. From a social perspective, the growing influx of off-road tourists has altered the traditional lifestyle of local communities, created cultural conflicts, and reduced local satisfaction with tourism. To mitigate these challenges, it is recommended to designate specific routes for off-road vehicles, enhance environmental monitoring, and implement educational programs to raise awareness among tourists and local communities. Additionally, developing alternative tourism options such as ecotourism and nature-based cycling can help preserve the environment and foster a more positive interaction between tourists and local residents.
